Clubs, Centres & Forums

Life Beyond the Classroom

Our clubs and forums give students the space to serve, explore, compete, and grow.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The NSS unit at GSS channels student energy into meaningful social action. From anti-drug awareness drives and beach clean-ups to mental health programmes at orphanages and rain water harvesting campaigns, our students are actively engaged with the world around them. The unit also celebrates NSS Day, International Human Solidarity Day, and Youth Awakening Day each year.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

Our NCC cadets represent the college with pride at district and state-level events. In December 2025, cadets participated in Vijay Diwas at Victory War Memorial, Chennai, honouring the heroes of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War.

Rotaract Club

The GSS Rotaract Club is affiliated with Rotary International and runs a full calendar of community service and leadership activities. In 2025–26, the club conducted a Road Safety Awareness Programme that engaged nearly 400 students, partnered with Tamil Nadu Police Traffic Warden Organisation, and hosted competitions and events throughout the year.

Youth Red Cross (YRC)

The YRC unit focuses on humanitarian service and health awareness. Recent activities include a workshop on Healthy Food Trends, a First Aid Training Programme with the Indian Red Cross Society, a Yoga & Wellness Session, a Slogan Writing Competition on Blood Donation, and a visit to Tea Cup Ministries Old Age Home — bringing compassion into action.

Red Ribbon Club

The Red Ribbon Club drives awareness around HIV/AIDS through creative and impactful programmes. In 2025–26, the club organised a video session, an online quiz, and a powerful performance featuring a Mime Show and Nukkad Natak on International AIDS Day, held at Vardhaman Hall.

Enviro Club

The GSS Enviro Club nurtures environmental awareness through walkathons, painting and essay competitions, beach cleaning drives, tree plantation initiatives, and an annual Green Audit of the college campus. The campus is proudly maintained as a plastic-free zone, with active waste management practices throughout.

Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD)

The ISTD Club connects students to the world of professional development and corporate learning. Recent sessions have focused on Ethical Branding & Personal Growth and Designing Training for Leadership, featuring speakers from organisations including Tech Mahindra Foundation and Business Gurukula.

Citizen Consumer Club

This club builds awareness of consumer rights and digital safety. In 2025–26, sessions covered cyber fraud prevention in digital payments, Real Estate consumer rights under RERA, and student competitions in essay writing, slogan writing, and drawing — all aimed at making students informed and responsible citizens.

Karuna Club

Rooted in compassion, the Karuna Club sensitises students to the welfare of animals and voiceless beings. Members have visited Pinjrapole (an animal shelter) and attended the Voice of the Voiceless exhibition — experiences that plant lasting seeds of empathy and ethical responsibility.
