M.Com

PG Department of Commerce | Evening College – Shift II | 2 Years

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce was established in 2019 to take students beyond the fundamentals — into the advanced world of finance, accounting, business management, and economic thought. The M.Com (General) programme is a two-year, four-semester course built for graduates who want to go further: into leadership roles in industry, into auditing and taxation, into academia, or into research.

The curriculum balances strong theoretical grounding with real-world application across accounting, taxation, corporate management, economics, HR, and marketing. Teaching combines lectures, case studies, industry seminars, mandatory internships, and final-year research projects. The department also places strong emphasis on soft skills, analytical tools, and computer applications — ensuring graduates are complete professionals.

Graduates go on to roles as financial analysts, tax consultants, auditors, bank managers, management consultants, and assistant professors. Recruiting organisations include TCS, Accenture, ICICI Bank, HDFC, Deloitte, EY, PwC, and KPMG. The programme also serves as a foundation for M.Phil. and Ph.D. studies in Commerce.

Offered through the Evening College (Shift II, 1:40 PM to 6:10 PM), the programme is designed for students who are working, pursuing professional qualifications, or managing other commitments alongside their studies.

Eligibility: Graduates from B.Com (General), B.Com (Accounting & Finance), B.Com (ISM), B.Com (Corporate Secretaryship), or BBA from the University of Madras or an equivalent institution.
